As part of the Ordinance on the Reduction of CO2 Emissions, Switzerland updated the carbon emission regulations for new passenger cars in 2021 to take reference from the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) values. The original emission standards were first introduced in 2012. As per the update, the 2020 carbon emissions target has been adjusted from 95 grams per kilometre to 118 grams per kilometre for passenger cars. The policy is in line with the EU emission standards.
The carbone emissions target is planed to decrease as follow:
2025: 93.6g CO2/km
2030: 49.5g CO2/km
