Finland introduced a fixed-term scrapping premium scheme for private persons purchasing a new passenger car and scrapping an old vehicle first registered in 2015 or earlier. The scheme provides EUR 2 500 for the purchase of a new zero-emission car powered by electricity or hydrogen, and EUR 2 000 for a new car using another fuel type, provided its CO₂ emissions do not exceed 140 g/km. The new car must be previously unregistered, purchased for the applicant’s own use, and first registered in Finland. The scheme runs from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027, or until the EUR 20 million budget is exhausted.
