The Law includes key targets for the transport sector, including a national goal of 10% renewable energy in transport by 2020, with a maximum 7% contribution from food-crop based biofuels. Obligated fuel suppliers must meet a national target for placing biofuels on the market as a percentage of total transport energy consumption and achieve reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from fuels supplied, such as at least 6% by the end of 2020 compared to 2010. Furthermore, public transport and public sector users are obligated to ensure that at least 70% of newly acquired vehicles utilize biofuels or other alternative power sources like hybrid, electric, or hydrogen.
