The ASEAN- Hong Kong (China) Free Trade Agreement notably provides for the reduction or elimination of border tariffs for coal, minerals (iron, zinc, manganese, cobalt, nickel, copper, aluminium), petroleum oil and selected iron and steel products.

Its rules of origin establish preferential tariff treatment benefits  (i) goods wholly obtained or produced within the exporting party,  (ii) goods produced in the exporting party exclusively from materials originating from one or more of the parties,  and (iii) goods partially obtained or produced in the exporting party, provided that a regional value content of 40% is met.
