The United Arab Emirates-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement entered into force in 2022. It removes 80% of border tariffs between the two countries, and provides for the gradual elimination of all border tariffs over a 10 year period, notably for the following products:
Iron and Steel
Articles of Iron and Steel
Nickel and articles thereof
Aluminium and articles thereof
Fertilisers
Its rules of origin state the following conditions for goods to benefit from preferential tariff treatment:
Final manufacturing should be done in India or in the UAE
If the non-originating material do not meet the change in tariff classification, the total value of non-originating material should not exceed 10% of the Free on Board (FOB) or Ex-works product price.
