Under the U.S. Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, USD 7.5 billion is allocated to build a nationwide network of 500,000 electric vehicle chargers. Funds are distributed to the National Electric Vehicle Formula Program to provide states with funds to strategically deploy charging and fuelling infrastructure. This infrastructure must be publicly accessible and states will work with the Department of Transportation and the Department of Energy to formulate proposals.
