This regulation applies to Any ceiling fan having two or more blades with sweep diameter 1400 mm and minimum of five regulator settings.

No person shall import into Sri Lanka or manufacture in Sri Lanka, ceiling fans which do not conform with the Sri Lanka Standard specified as SLS 1600:2011.

The Authority has the power to require any importer or a manufacturer of any ceiling fan  to submit a certificate issued by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, certifying that any ceiling fan imported or manufactured, as the case may be, by such importer or manufacturer, conforms with the star rating as specified in the SLS 1600:2011.

Every person who imports into Sri Lanka or manufactures in Sri Lanka any ceiling fan specified in the Schedule hereto, shall be required to have an energy label displaying the applicable star rating and conforming to the format, dimensions and size as specified in the SLS 1600:2011 affixed to the ceiling fan and cover, wrapper or the box which the ceiling fan is contained. The star rating so displayed shall be verified by a certificate issued by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, certifying the accuracy of the rating displayed.
