The ATEnEE programme is for new local entities (cities, countries and regional parks) to engage in a regional project. It allows these local players to play an integral part in their regional policy development affecting environmental issues, energy efficiency and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. ADEME provides technical assistance, methodological and financial aid and advice to communities that were committed before December 31, 2006. Since its launch in 2002, ATEnEE has been a great success. In early 2005, there were 39 contracts that involved 16 Countries, 13 Regional Parks and 10 Areas.
Aid depends on the nature of the project and its progress:
30% of funding for a project manager ATEnEE (capped at 230,000 euros over 3 years)
50 to 70% of study support, programming and implementation actions (capped to 20 and 100 000 euros)
25 to 50% support for accompanying measures (training and communication, evaluation), (capped at 50 and 75 respectively 000).
