The creation of this policy was a specific response to the National Energy Policy 2009 – 2030 which calls for the development of specific aspects of the energy sect as it relates to the energy sector especially in areas related to renewables, diversification of fuels, development of biofuels and energy-from-waste.

This policy also will directly support the implementation of two other energy sub-policies: the National Renewable Energy Policy 2010 – 2030 and the National Biofuels Policy 2010-2030.
