Certification scheme was introduced in Malta on the basis of the EU Renewable Energy Directive 2009/28/EC. Requirements outlined in the Directive had to be incorporated by Member States till the end of December 2012 at the latest.

Fulfilling its obligation Malta opened tailor-made courses providing necessary information and training for installers. Also certification process was outlined. Overall, policy assures and enables installers to obtain high level of competence in their field.
