The Geothermal Technologies Office (GTO) is a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) program that supports geothermal energy technology deployment, market transformation, and technology diffusion throughout the nation. The Geothermal Technologies Office researches, develops, and validates innovative and cost-competitive technologies and tools to locate, access, and develop geothermal resources in the United States. GTO works in partnership with industry, academia, and DOE's national laboratories on research and development activities focused on these areas: Enhanced Geothermal Systems Demonstration Projects, Hydrothermal and Resource Confirmation, Low-Temperature Resources, and Systems Analysis.
