The Energy Decree 2026 provides the legislative framework to reduce energy prices for households and firms in Italy.
Main measures includes:
Temporary contributions of EUR 115 to low-income households against electricity price rise.
The decommissioning of coal-fired power plants extended to 2038.
Cuts in incentives for photovoltaic systems, biogas and biomass, favouring long-term renewable energy contracts for businesses.
Faster authorisation procedures for data centres.
The Decree also mentions its will at the European level to separate the cost of the EU ETS from the pricing of renewable energy, such as hydroelectric or solar, to lower costs.
