The LuFo program is Germany's Federal Aviation Research Program managed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). It aims to enhance the technological and economic foundation of the aviation industry by supporting research and technology development projects in civil aviation. The program's goals include developing sustainable and efficient air transport systems, strengthening innovation and expertise in research, development, and production, and improving Germany's competitiveness in the global aviation market. Currently the program is in its 7th year. The central objective of the seventh national civil aviation research programme, LuFo Climate VII, is to significantly reduce the climate impact of aviation through aviation-induced greenhouse gases and non-CO2 effects.
