Brazil has set a BRL 18.3 billion (USD 3.5 billion) cap for 2028–2032 to support low-carbon hydrogen in industry and heavy transport. Tax credits, valid for five years, will cover up to 100% of the price gap between low-carbon hydrogen and conventional alternatives, with the percentage linked to the hydrogen’s emissions intensity. Credits will be awarded competitively to producers or buyers. Annual allocations range from BRL 1.7 billion in 2028 to BRL 5 billion in 2032. Projects that fail to comply may face fines and repayment or cancellation of credits.
