EU Directive 2024/1275 mandates increased building renovation rates across member states and requires all new buildings to be zero-emission buildings (ZEB) by 2030. The directive aims to achieve a zero-emission building stock by 2050.

The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive was updated in 2024 to introduce a broad range of policies to increase the rate of renovation in EU countries. The Directive also requires that all new buildings are zero-emission buildings (ZEB) from 2030 onwards. The long-term aim of the Directive is to achieve a zero-emission building stock by 2050.
