The Vietnam - Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement entered into force in October 2016.
The Agreement eliminates import tariffs for some energy sector products, including ores, machinery, electrical components and critical minerals.
Rules of origin delineated in the Agreement state that products wholly obtained or produced in one of the signatory countries qualify for preferential tariff treatment.
If it is not the case, they need to have undergone a significant production process in one of the signatory countries - one that entails a change in tariff classification-, or the value of incorporated non-originating materials should not represent more than 10 percent of the FOB value of the final product.
