The Energy Conservation Ordinance sets standards for the energy efficiency of new buildings as well as for the renovation of existing buildings. It establishes requirements for insulation, building materials, heating systems, ventilation, and other aspects related to energy consumption.

The building code was last amended in December 2023 to raise the ambition level for the energy efficiency of new buildings.
