The Indian government enacted a Basic Customs Duty (BCD) increase for electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles manufactured in Completely Built Unit (CBU) form. BCD sill increase from 60% to 70%  for ICE vehicles in CBU form costing less than USD 40 000 with an engine power of less than 3,000 cc, and for electric vehicles in CBU form costing more than USD 40 000.

A BCD increase to both ICE and EV vehicles imported in Semi Knocked Down (SKD) form, from 30% to 35%, was also enacted.
