The U.S. Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 allocates around 1 billion USD to support federal permitting and environmental reviews of energy, critical minerals and infrastructure projects. This includes:

350 million USD for the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council to implement the Permiting Action Plan and coordinate environmental reviews among federal agencies in accordance with the Infrastructure and Jobs Act.

30 million USD for the Council on Environmental Quality to improve the implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)

625 million USD to multiple agencies to strengthen and accelerate permitting reviews through hiring and training personnel, and developing tools and techniques to improve transparency, accountability, and public engagement.
