The National Assembly of Bulgaria approved a compensation scheme for non-household electricity consumers from 1 January to 31 December 2023. The scheme follows a similar scheme adopted in 2022. Under the compensation mechanism, all non-household electricity consumers will receive a compensation in the amount of the difference between the real average monthly price of the "day ahead" segment of the Bulgarian Independent Energy Exchange and the ceiling price of BGN 200/MWh. Depending on several factors such as proven investments in energy efficiency, the compensation amount will be multiplied by a coefficient of 0.1 or 0.8. The compensation will be covered by funds from the Electricity System Security Fund.
