The aim of the National Policy of Urban Mobility is to develop the urban transportation network in Brazil and to improve its accessibility in order to foster urban mobility.

The law 12.587 establishes the guidelines of the Urban Mobility Policy encourages the use of public transportation and non-motorized modes, as well as the comprehensive integration of urban transportation services. Likewise, it mandates the creation of Urban Mobility Plans for cities with a population of more than 20,000 people.
