Spain submitted its recovery and resilience plan in April 2021 to the European Commission.

Within the fourth pillar of the plan, one component relates to the modernisation of the public administration.

This pillar is based on three energy-related projects:

- Energy savings and efficiency: The objective is to improve the energy efficiency of of buidling thermal envelope and the lighting installations in public administrations

- Renewable energies: Solar energy systems are to be promoted for self consumption. The plan also states a commitement to forbid the purchase of boilers using fossil fuels, in order to foster the use of renewable energies within the central administration.

- Sustainable mobility: The government intends to renew the public vehicle fleet and to install new charging infrastructure in public buildings.

Overall, these energy-related projects account for EUR 1.07 billion, from 2021 to 2023.
