Spain submitted its recovery and resilience plan in April 2021 to the European Commission.

The 5th pillar of Spain's plan for "Recovery, Transformation and Resilience" is for "Modernisation and digitalisation of the industrial fabric and SMEs, recuperation of tourism, and momentum for Spain as an enterprising nation".

One component relates to the incorporation of sustainability in the existing and future enterprises and favouring the energy transition. This includes supporting and reinforcing Spanish industry in sectors like renewable energy, energy efficiency, electrification, circular economy, and climate change adaptation.

Overall, EUR 12 million are expected to be invested in the industry sector for energy efficiency measures.
