Finland launched a €90 million investment aid scheme in 2026 to support industrial-scale capture of biogenic carbon dioxide. The programme allocates funding through a competitive bidding process, targeting projects with a minimum capture capacity of 15,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year. Individual projects can receive up to €30 million, covering up to 30% of eligible costs. Supported projects must begin carbon capture by 2030 and operate until at least 2035. The scheme aims to scale up carbon capture technologies and enable negative emissions through BECCS and CO₂ utilisation.
