KRW 214 billion (USD 158 million) of public funding (combined central and local governments) aiming to mobilize a total of KRW 509 billion (USD 345 million) for two hydrogen hubs, one in Donghae/Samcheok, Gangwon covering storage, infrastructure and liquefaction to be built between 2026 and 2028 and the other one in Pohang, South Gyeongsang, for power generation with fuel cells to be in operation before 2028 These clusters are part of the 2025 national hydrogen cluster strategy which targets five national hydrogen hubs, each tailored to different segments of the value chain
