The Driving the Nation Program is a program developed by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency to enable the demonstration and deployment of new zero emissions vehicle technologies through continuous open calls for projects. In 2023, it launched two calls worth a total of around USD 100 million to support the demonstration of heavy-duty EVs (2024) and charging infrastructure roll-out (2023). The program structure allows the government to take a portfolio approach to project selection rather than having to select the top projects on a given metric if they are all similar in nature.
