The Regional DAC Hubs Program helps to accelerate the demonstration and deployment of DAC technologies. Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED)’s DAC Hubs Program develop four domestic direct air capture hubs. Each demonstrate a DAC technology or suite of technologies at a commercial scale with the potential for capturing at least 1 million metric tons of CO2 annually from the atmosphere. Once captured, the CO2 should be permanently stored in a geologic formation or converted into new products. The project was launched in 2024 with an initial budget of USD 1.8 billion.
