The Transitional FER-X Decree, effective from 28 February 2025, allocates €9.7 billion to support renewable energy plants in Italy with generation costs close to market levels. It offers 20-year Contracts for Difference (CfDs) for technologies like solar, wind, hydro, and biogas, with access via auctions for plants over 1 MW and direct access for smaller ones. The scheme includes regional and installation-specific bonuses, supports new builds and upgrades, and excludes projects already under construction or financially distressed companies. It runs until the end of 2025 or until a 3 GW cap is reached for small plants.
