The law promotes the reduction of waste, reuse of parts, and recycling of used products as raw materials. It sets out responsibilities for manufacturing business operators of specified industries and products in relation to production, product designing, labelling, self-collection, and recycling.

In terms of its provisions, products such as home appliances and personal computers are designated as ‘specified reuse-promoted products’, requiring their manufacturers to promote the use of recyclable resources or reusable parts (designing and manufacturing products that can be easily reused or recycled).

Products such as compact rechargeable batteries and personal computers are designated as ‘specified resource-recycled products’, requiring their manufacturers and importers to promote self-collection and recycling.
