The Saskatchewan Petroleum Industry/Government Environment Committee (SPIGEC) was established in 1992. It is formed to facilitate the cooperative resolution of provincial environmental management issues, including climate change and gas flaring and venting. The Committee meets about eight times per year. SPIGEC’s members come from both government agencies and industry associations, which represents broad interest in the oil and gas industry. Issues currently being addressed by the Committee include climate change, venting and flaring, and remediation guidelines.
