This standard establishes the minimum energy factor levels in L/kWh/cycle for automatic washing machines according to their type (impeller, impeller with heating element, agitator or stirrer with heating element) and its axis (vertical or horizontal). It also establishes maximum energy consumption levels (kWh/year) for manual and semi-automatic washing machines according to their type (impeller or agitator) and their size. See the attachment for the minimum efficiency levels.

The standard NOM-005-ENER-2016 supersedes the standard NOM-005-ENER-2012. The 2016 version increases the energy performance requirements set in the superseded standard for all operation type.
