The support scheme was part of a financial stimulus package after the 2008 fiscal crisis, and funded 100 % of the installation cost for normal chargers, up to NOK 30 000 per charging point. The Schuko outlets have proven to be not ideally suited to long term EV charging, and this is one of the inherent challenges when building out charging infrastructure before international standards are adopted.
