The law identifies the new structure of the electricity sector in Ecuador, and the role of the Government in the promotion of projects of Renewable energy sources.

The law determines that the Electricity Master Plan, PME, will be prepared by the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, in coordination with the entities and companies of the electric sector.

The law also states that The National Energy Efficiency Plan, PLANEE, will be prepared by the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, in coordination with the Secretaries of State and Institutions whose functions are related to the use of energies.
