The Notice provides a general guidance on short and long term development of the geothermal power in China for electricity and heat production.

The short-term efforts will be focused on the exploitation of the geothermal power from shallow and medium-deep sources. The heat will be generated for heating purposes and power generation if applicable.

In the long-term, the aim is to develop geothermal energy from medium-high temperature sources and from resources located in the hot dry rock.
