The EREDPC was established to carry out national energy resources studies, data collection and analysis, rural energy policy formulation, technology research and development and to promote appropriate energy technologies in rural areas. The Centre is also the Executive arm of the Rural Electrification Fund (REF). The Center includes renewable energy such as solar and wind as potential sources for rural electrification.
