The research & development and demonstration programme for wave and tidal-stream technologies is part of a £20 million per annum Emerging Energy Technologies Programme. The aim of this programme is to develop an understanding of the long-term commercial prospects for marine renewables. This money is administered as part of the Department of Trade and Industrys wider Technology Programme Wave and Tidal-stream Energy Demonstration Scheme is a £50 million programme to support the first UK grid connected multi-device pre-commercial demonstrations.
