The SBIR and STTR programs support innovation and commercialization through grants to small businesses. Funding is provided in two phases: Phase I (up to $250,000 for 6–12 months) for feasibility studies, and Phase II (up to $1.6 million for up to 2 years) for prototype development. In 2024, nearly $20 million was awarded to 32 hydrogen-related projects.
