Ontario regulation 522/20, made under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016 makes producers individually accountable for recycling their products. Producers have the option to either absorb the recycling costs or pass them on to customers via EHFs. Producers must meet specific recycling targets, starting at 55% and increasing to 70% by 2025.
