The German government is implementing a support scheme for the construction of green district heating networks.

Direct grants are provided to new and existing district heating network operators and operators to finance the construction and the upgrade of district heating networks. In order to be eligible for public support, the systems need to operate on at least 75% renewable energy and/or waste heat.
