Germany established a Hydrogen Core Network in June 2024, to be financed through network charges. The Network is meant to build and connect hydrogen production infrastructures.

The German government is providing initial financing - the European Commission approved the provision of EUR 3 billion under EU State aid rules to support the construction of the Hydrogen Core Network (‘HCN').
