As part of the Future Made in Australia Plan, the Australian government announced measures aimed at increasing production and uptake of renewable energy. Funding programs (AUD 7.1 billion) to support the refining and processing of critical minerals were included in these measures.
Specifically:
Critical Minerals Production Tax Incentive to improve supply chain resilience (AUD 7 billion)
Pre-feasibility studies on common-user processing facilities (AUD 10.2 million)
The budget also includes AUD 1.2 billion in strategic investments in on-going critical mineral projects. These include:
Critical Minerals Facility (AUD 655 million)
Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (AUD 400 million)
