Under the The Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information Regulations, energy-related products are regulated to ensure they meet specific measures relating to their energy usage. This reduces their environmental impact, improves their energy efficiency, and cuts greenhouse gas emissions. Motors would have to comply to standard  IEC 60034-30-1, stipulating the minimum performance standard for motors of different sizes, equivalent to IE4 requirements from 2023 onwards.
