The Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has implemented the Waste to Energy Programme as part of its National Bioenergy Programme in March 2021. The programme aims to provide financial assistance to developers in the setting up of plants to convert wastes and residues from urban, industrial, and agricultural uses into biogas, bioCNG, or syngas. The programme has a budget outlay of 600 crore INR between FY 2021-22 to 2025-26.
