On 2024, Egypt announced the Economic Strategy for 2024-2030. The strategy included the different targets for different sectors in Egypt. For the electricity and renewable energy, the strategy included:

Increasing the renewable energy penetration in the Egyptian power grid to 42% by 2030.

Finalizing the different electricity interconnection projects with Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Jordan, Greece, and Italy.

Increasing the electricity exports from the network to 1.5 GW per day.
