The Territory Critical Minerals Plan helps position the Northern Territory as a strategically important jurisdiction in the production, processing and manufacturing of minerals important to the high technology, battery and defence sectors. The Northern Territory has released a three-point plan to communicate its potential to be a key destination for international investment and to play a greater role in the critical minerals value chain.

The key points of the plan seek to:

accelerate exploration for critical minerals,

support critical minerals projects to commence production,

grow refining, processing and manufacturing of critical minerals in the Territory.

The Plan seeks to attract international investment in the Territory's reserves of critical minerals, which include copper, lithium, vanadium, rare earths, tungsten and cobalt, and to leverage the state's established logistics capability for exporting critical minerals to international markets.
