The South Australia Mining Act provides the framework for regulating the mineral exploration and mining sectors in the state.
All applications for mineral exploration and exploitation must include an assessment of the expected environmental effects of the enterprise, along with a statement of planned measures to remedy environmental damage.
Section 63 establishes the Extractive Areas Rehabilitation Fund as a part of the royalties recovered by the Minister on extractive minerals.
Part 9B establishes a framework for the interaction of the Mining Act with native title land.
