The Belgian federal government agreed to permanently reduce the VAT on electricity and gas for non-commercial contracts from 21% to 6%, starting on April 1st, 2023.

The policy aims to protect consumers from volatile energy prices and encourage energy efficiency. This measure is expected to provide annual support of around €300/year at current prices.
