Under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and in cooperation with Petroleum Development Oman, the Sultanate of Oman announced in 2020 its 3,050 MW target for renewables by 2025. By 2030, Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) is set to provide 30% of generation capacity in the Sultanate which implies the production of at least 3,050 megawatts (MW) of renewables-based capacity by 2025. To reach the objectives of Oman’s Vision 2040, the announced projects include:

A Waste to Energy project in the pipeline of renewable-based projects is the Barka

A 100 MW Wind project in Jaalan Bani Bu Ali within the Main Interconnected System (Wind IPP 2023)

A 600MW Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project with thermal storage in Duqm

A 200 MW and planned in Duqm (Wind IPP 2024)

A Wind development project in Dhofar Governorate
