Finland's Minerals Strategy organises action proposals for aligning the mining sector with EU policy and around three strategic objectives: (1) promoting domestic growth and prosperity, (2) solutions for global mineral chain challenges, and (3) mitigating environmental impact.

The action proposals are grouped under the following themes: strengthening minerals policy, securing the supply of raw materials, reducing the environmental impact of the minerals sector and increasing its productivity, and strengthening R&D operations and expertise. The strategy compares the EU critical raw materials list to the mining production and discovery potential in Finland.

Specifically, the Strategy identifies the following minerals that are on the EU list for which Finland has either ongoing production or projects:

"Critical"

Cobalt

Niobium

Platinum Group Metals

"Economically very important"

Chromium

Iron

Manganese

Nickel

Vanadium

Zinc

"Economically important"
