The Swedish Government introduced a new protection mechanism against high-electricity prices. Both households and companies will be concerned by the mechanism. SEK 60 billion of the fees paid to state-owned public utility Svenska kraftnät will be returned to customers as a compensation to lower prices. At least half of the amount should go to households, either through reduced charges, refunds, or other measures that lower prices.

The American Petroleum Institute (API) estimated that crude oil inventories in the United States fell by 765,000 barrels in the week ending June 19.
